MEMORY Sunday services and parades across Halesowen were well attended and hundreds of people showed up to show their respect.

Military men and women were joined by dignitaries, politicians, members of society and groups for events in Halesowen and Cradley, among others, on Sunday 14 November to mark the first Remembrance event since 2019, when Covid put an end to the memorial services last year.

Halesowen and the Rowley Regis MP proved to show their respect along with Cradley’s MP Suzanne Webb, who described the memorial events commemorating Britain’s war deaths as “poignant”.

She said: “As World War II inevitably disappears from our collective experience, it is more important than ever that we remember the sacrifice of ‘the finest generation’ before these memories are lost.

“We must also always acknowledge the service and sacrifice of other conflicts, such as Korea, Northern Ireland, the Falkland Islands and Iraq and Afghanistan, just to name a few of the places our brilliant armed forces have earned with such distinction to keep us safe in this. century and the last. ”
